Community Volunteering – a message to parents in the Shrewsbury area from Nick David, Director of Activities
We are planning an expansion of our outreach programme for pupils next year and would be interested to hear from any parents or friends of the School who might wish to assist. In essence we are looking for volunteer adults to assist with the running of our ‘Community Action’ programme. Here, Sixth Formers opt to take part in a range of community projects in order to bring into focus people and places in need, but also picking up some useful experience along the way. This would generally take place on a term-time Thursday afternoon and might involve hosting teatime socials for the elderly, outdoor project work at wildlife reserves, painting village halls, work on canal restoration schemes and so on. We would be asking any adult volunteers to attend and monitor sessions but with additional support on hand from School staff. It might suit those who also wish to get stuck into the work itself. If you are at all interested in this, please do contact our Director of Activities (Nick David) on
