Held in collaboration with the Salopian Club, we are delighted and privileged to welcome Michael Hart and Laurence Le Quesne back to Shrewsbury. Both men have recently celebrated their ninetieth birthdays and are renowned as two of Shrewsbury School's finest school masters of the 20th Century. Both were Head of History and they return to their alma mater to talk on 'Living Through War'.
Michael will focus on the continental experiences of the War and consider why there was such little opposition to Nazi rule, whilst Laurence will cover the human, social and economic dislocations of the conflict.
It promises to be a memorable evening, and the Bastille Society would like to place on record their hearty thanks to Michael and Laurence for their key contributions to its success.
The lecture takes place in the Science Lecture Theatre and members of the public are very welcome. There is no charge for admission.
