28 cadets (mainly 4th formers) went to Nesscliff Camp in Shropshire for the annual CCF Summer Camp during the first week of the summer holidays.
Lt Col Nick David reports that all went well and that the cadets were a real credit to the school. He writes: ‘we had our usual all action week - only stymied by quite a lot of rain (that theme again) which put paid to the River Severn canoe phase of our exercise. The cadets shot various weapons live and blank, did signals work, first aid, hostage rescue, abseiled, navigated and undertook a 36 hour exercise. On this were soldiers from 11 EOD based in Gloucester (bomb disposal) who came along and did an 'in field' lecture, then taking part in the ex itself to add realism. The cadets were very interested to hear about their role in provided security cover for the Olympics.
Overall this was another successful annual camp for Shrewsbury School CCF. Our two senior NCOs - Sgts Oli Pattison-Appleton and Henry Young - did a fine job at being bosses for the week.’
