Coast to coast: Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Sea-Kayak Expedition

Friday 13 September 2019

Six members of the Upper Sixth Form spent the final week of their summer break navigating their way by sea kayak through the waterways of northern Scotland on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expedition.

L-R: Laura Elliot, William Hurst, Mollie Mathews, Frankie McLaughlin, Paddy Barlow, Ruaraidh Lockett

Their journey took them from Fort William on the west coast to Inverness on the east – a distance of over 100km.

The trip represented the culmination of a year-long programme of training, from the first session in the school pool, to tackling some of the world-renowned tidal races on Anglesey, before being let loose on the lochs, canals and rivers of the Highlands.

It was a very successful trip. Huge congratulations to them all.
