Continued Success for Salopian British Cadet Rifle Team Member

Wednesday 11 March 2020

Sgt Oliver Taylor selected to represent the British Cadet Rifle Team on the 2020 tour to Canada.

Oli has been a sharp-shooter over recent years and has capped an outstanding year with his selection onto the British Cadet Rifle Team.  The team, known as the Athelings, have been competing in overseas competitions since 1910 and Oli becomes the third Salopian to represent the team.

Oli had an outstanding Schools Meeting at Bisley last summer, winning the McQueen Trophy for best sniper fire at 300 yards.  He was awarded the Cadet 100 badge for his consistent scoring and played a key role in the Royal Shrewsbury School Rifle Club winning a silver medal in the Ashburton IV.

He followed that with a splendid performance at the National Rifle Association Imperial Meeting, winning bronze bars in the Conan Doyle and Daily Telegraph competitions.  He went through qualification to compete in the prestigious HM Queen and St George’s Prize competitions and won a bronze medal in the Imperial 150.

Having missed out on last year’s British Cadet Rifle Team tour by being a non-travelling reserve, Royal Shrewsbury School Rifle Club Captain George Bramwell gives Oli his warm congratulations.
