U15's win Shropshire Schools ESCA 20/20 Competition
Henry Blofield (captain) won the toss and decided to bat on a good Chances wicket in the Final of the competition against Bridgnorth Endowed School. Shrewsbury scored at six per over for the first ten overs, and accelerated up to a score of 162 for 6 from their 20 overs. No batsman scored over 29 (Harry Flowers) although there were key partnerships involving James Hulton-Harrop (20), Charles Kidson (24) and Freddie Earlam (23).
Bridgnorth started their innings brightly, however Charles Kidson (4 overs, 1 for 14) and Angus Hayward (4 overs, 1 for 11) put the brakes significantly on the innings, with imaginative field placements and good, tight bowling. Wickets started to fall, and captain Henry Blofield exerted more pressure with a superb spell of 4 overs, 2 for 11 including the key wicket of Bridgnorth captain Will Cook.
Shrewsbury deservedly won the County title by 79 runs and play West Bridgford School (the Nottinghamshire winners) next week.
