Shrewsbury School

Delegate awards at the Withington MUN Conference

Monday 2 July 2018

On the day after Speech Day, a small team of Salopians represented the School with panache at Withington Model United Nations Conference, a one-day event aimed at beginners.

Lower Sixth Former Koby Ferdinand-Okpala - a veteran of many MUN conferences - chaired the Human Rights Committee and did a brilliant job, facilitating debate and trying to get as many people as possible to contribute to the debates.

And three out of the four Shrewsbury School delegates picked up awards in their committees:

  • Ossian Finch (3F) won a Highly Commended Delegate award at his first ever MUN; a superb achievement for such a young debater.
  • Ebrahim Jamshid (L6) won a Commended Delegate Award in the most competitive committee, the Security Council.
  • And Harvey Hancock (5F) won a Commended Delegate Award in the Human Rights committee.

The teams were:

Ebrahim Jamshid - (Ambassador) Security Council

Côte d’Ivoire
Abi Watkinson - (Ambassador) Security Counci
Harvey Hancock - Human Rights Committee
Ossian Finch - Human Rights 2 Committee
