Football: a strong start to the new season

Thursday 18 September 2014

A summary of the season so far from Head of Football, Mr Steve Biggins.

With nearly 60 School and 60 House matches having been played since the start of term, football at Shrewsbury is very much up and running. All results and fixtures can be found on the Schools Sports website and you can also follow Shrewsbury Sport on Twitter: @ShrewsburySport.

The 1st XI had a week of pre-season training where they played four matches in four days, winning one, drawing one and losing two. They have since played four and won four, the latest being a 4-0 victory over Idsall School in the ESFA U18 Cup. They play the Old Salopians this Saturday before setting off to LVS Ascot next Wednesday in the ISFA Boodles Cup.

The U16s travelled to Liverpool on Wednesday to play against St Francis Xavier's College and narrowly lost 1-2. The U15As are having a steady start and they are proud to have Nina Lange scoring regularly - she is our first female footballer and a very good one too!
