The Headmaster's Reception at Magdalen College: A resounding success

Thursday 15 September 2011

The Headmaster’s reception last night at the splendid Magdalen College, Oxford, was a huge success.  Around 60 prospective parents and 10 prep heads from Oxfordshire and beyond attended the event, where they were entertained by a Salopian string ensemble and waited on by some of our pupils, before being addressed by our Registrar and Headmaster.

This is the third reception of this kind that we have held away from Shrewsbury since Mark Turner's arrival, and our our Home Team - comprising most of our Housemasters and Senior Management Team - now refer to them as the 'Headmaster's Road Shows'. Organised by Colonel Nick Jenkins with typical military precision, they are a neat and informal way of meeting families and prep heads who may not have visited Shrewsbury recently, or possibly not at all.

The Salopian spirit ensures that each 'Road Show' is tremendous fun, and the Colonel's enthusiasm for detail ensures that they also run smoothly.  We hope and expect to be organising more such events across the country.
