House football: Leagues and Competitions

Tuesday 15 November 2011

Our inter-house football competition normally starts towards the end of November. These are always lively and fun knock-out matches, and great fun to watch!

1st House Prelims 2011: Moser's v Churchill'sThe boys in the 1st House matches are the best 11 in the Fifth and Sixth Forms; the 2nd House teams comprise Fifth and Sixth Form boys who are not in the 1st House, and the Under 15 matches are between boys in the Third and Fourth Forms - a great opportunity to see any emerging talent within each house.

Finding a suitable slot for these house competitions where there are no major clashes with other sporting fixtures is always quite difficult.  Last year, we had the additional problem of snow to contend with, and ended up having to play the finals on the 3-G pitch at Sundorne Sports Village.

This year's inter-house football competition kicked off on Monday with the 1st House Prelims: Ridgemount beat Oldham's 3-1, Moser's beat Churchill's 5-0, and School House beat Rigg's 2-1. The aim of the Prelims is to get the 11 houses down to the 8 that go through to the Quarter Finals,

All three finals are scheduled to be played on Friday 9th December - the last day of term.  Trophies will be presented at the Christmas Dinner that evening.

House league matches continue to be played each week.  The A Leagues are getting towards the end of their matches as they were the first to start, the others (1st, 2nd and B Leagues) still have 3 or 4 matches left to play.
