The Boys 1st VIII split into two coxed fours and competed in the open club category. The crews produced strong performances in their heats to proceed to the A final and making the cut from 18 down to 6. It was great to have both crews line up alongside each other on the start line. After a strong challenge from both crews they came in 2nd and 5th.
The Senior Girls quad made a similarly strong start in their heat and secured a place in the A final against a competitive field. In the A final the crew gave a good account of themselves coming in sixth.
The J16 VIII placed eight out of twelve in the heats and sadly missed out on a place in the final.
On Monday one pupil, Julian W (S, UVI), raced in the single at the Junior Sculling Regatta at Dorney Lake. In the time trial Julian produced a strong row to make it into the A final, which saw less than two seconds separating 2nd to 6th place and setting up a potentially exciting final. The final didn’t disappoint with some terrific racing the whole way down the track. There was a photo finish required to separate the medals with Julian been awarded a well-deserved bronze medal after an impressive effort.
