Friday 1 February 2019

Shrewsbury Model United Nations delegates enjoyed an excellent weekend debating key global issues with fellow teams from schools across the country at the MUNHigh Conference.

The Shrewsbury team was made up of a mixture of experienced delegates and novices, all of whom performed very well.

In the presentation of awards at the end of the Conference, the USA team were given a Commended Delegation Award.

In addition Alex Sparkes (I L6) chaired the Human Rights Committee, and the following won Highly Commended Delegate Awards in their committees:

  • Chad Usher (Rb U6) (Security Council)
  • Koby Ferdinand-Okpala (SH U6) (Political Committee)
  • Mark Pangin (SH U6) (Future Committee)

Tom Jackson (R L6 - pictured below) was given a Commended Delegate Award in the International Court of Justice.

The group were accompanied by Jeanne Fournis (Bordeaux Fellow) and by Teacher in Charge of MUN Huw Peach.

We're look forward to hosting our own Model United Nations Conference, ShrewsMUN 3, in March, led by Secretary General Chad Usher (pictured below):
