Packwood Haugh to join Shrewsbury School family of schools

Friday 10 May 2019

We are delighted to announce that Packwood Haugh Preparatory School will be joining the Shrewsbury School family of schools from September 2019.

All around the country, and indeed in the local area, schools are grouping together for mutual benefit. After an extensive process of evaluation and assessment, the Governors of both Shrewsbury and Packwood have agreed that Packwood will join the Shrewsbury School family, which includes three international schools, Shrewsbury Hong Kong, Shrewsbury Bangkok (Riverside) and Shrewsbury Bangkok (City Campus).

Packwood and Shrewsbury share a similar ethos and values set and are deeply committed to providing an outstanding, all-round boarding and day education for girls and boys. Indeed, in recent educational quality and compliance inspections, conducted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, both Shrewsbury and Packwood received excellent reports.

“I am thrilled to welcome Packwood Haugh pupils, parents, staff, and alumni to the Shrewsbury School family. For well over a century, Packwood families have made the choice to pursue their children’s senior school education at Shrewsbury School. With almost 100 former Packwood pupils in the current Shrewsbury School community, we are delighted to formalise our relationship in this way. As two schools with a strong values and ethos match, the benefits of this mutual partnership will be significant for us all, as we offer girls and boys a fully immersive all-round boarding and day education which is forward-thinking and set on the secure foundations of tradition and history.”
Leo Winkley, Headmaster of Shrewsbury School
