Shrewsbury School

RSSBC: Birmingham Regatta

Tuesday 10 May 2011

Shrewsbury dominate the water, coming away with Four Golds and a Silver medal.

The J15 and J14 squads were out in force at Birmingham Regatta, along with a double scull from the Girls' squad.

The J15s had a straightforward win in the VIII in the morning. In the afternoon division, racing in three coxed fours they managed to make it an all Shrewsbury final (the third crew getting knocked out by another Shrewsbury boat). Unsurprisngly, in the final they brought home the gold and the silver medals.

The J14s had entered four catagories - the squad came away with the gold medal in three (J14 Octuple, J14 Quad Div 1 and J14 Quad Div 2); dispatching crews from the Oratory School, Pangbourne College, RGS Worcester, Cheltenham College and Monmouth School.

The girls double were unfortunate to get knocked out in the first round to the eventual winners.

All of the crews will have benefitted from plenty of race practice, and will now look forward to our home fixture at Shrewsbury Regatta on the 14th and 15th May.
