CNN Sport ran a feature on Ethiopia's triple Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba on 2nd January, in which much coverage was given to her 'legendary' local coach, Sentayehu Eshetu - known to all as 'Coach'.
Thanks to the support and generosity of an Old Salopian former Huntsman, 'Coach' became the RSSH's first Coach in Residence here in October 2012. For one hectic week, our Hunt runners and their coaches were given the same training as Coach's own athletes in the small town of Bekoji receive. In addition to a tough regime that involved a 5.30am speedwork session, the BBC and local radio and newspapers were also filming and conducting interviews with Coach and his new pupils.
There is no doubt that Coach's visit has made a lasting impression on both pupils and staff, but we were delighted to see that he is still wearing one of the jackets that the Hunt gave him now that he is back in Bekoji!
