Rugby: Semi-finalists in Stonyhurst Rugby Sevens Tournament

Thursday 20 March 2014

Shrewsbury's 1st VII boys bowed out of the Stonyhurst Sevens today after reaching the semi-final of the main competition.  Their performance was outstanding, with exceptional effort coming from all ten players.

Earlier in the day the team narrowly came second in the group of five, beating a powerful Rydal side.  They then went on to beat a strong and very fancied Oratory side in the quarter-final, with some remarkably committed defence, before losing in the semi-final to a very balanced Giggleswick team.

This is the School's best U18 sevens performance to date.

Great thanks go to our supporters. The squad is now looking forward to the National Schools' Rugby Sevens Tournament at Rosslyn Park next week.
