Senior House Debating Semi-Finals: "This house believes that the BBC no longer deserves the licence fee"

Tuesday 27 November 2012

This Monday's semi finals saw some of the finest debating so far this term. The motion was: "This house believes that the BBC no longer deserves the licence fee."

Both matches were extremely close, with Severn Hill narrowly beating School House. James Humpish of School House was recognised as having made an outstanding speech, but the judges felt that overall Severn Hill had the more coherent argument.

Grove A vs Grove B was a very entertaining and competitive debate, with a vocal and supportive audience.  In the end, Grove A (pictured on the right below) just pipped Grove B to the post, but the latter team were commended on their passionate and well researched speeches.

Grove A now go forward to meet Severn Hill in the Finals next Monday.  Held in the Ashton Theatre at 7.30pm, this is always a fun and lively event - all parents, staff, friends and pupils are welcome to come along and support.
