Shrewsbury School cross-country team win national bronze

Wednesday 15 January 2020

Tremendous performances by our RSSH runners at the national Knole Run on 11th January. Highlights of the day included team bronze for the boys’ team, 5th place for Francesca Harris and 7th place for Fourth Former Will Singleton.

The Knole Run in Sevenoaks, Kent is one of the key national events in the schools’ cross-country calendar. Despite missing a key runner, Oscar Hamilton-Russell, the boys did amazingly well to make the podium with team bronze.

Individually, Will Singleton came 7th (a truly astonishing achievement for a Fourth Former in an U18 race), Sam Western finished 18th, Max Green 28th, Harrison Cutler 35th, Will Owen 39th and Orlando Williams 40th, to give a team total of 167 behind St Albans in 2nd (148) and The Judd in 1st (59).

Francesca Harris

In the girls’ race, Francesca Harris was our best placed runner in 5th (a superb run) with Livy Elliot 42nd, Anna Cowan 44th and Laura Elliot 61st. This gave the girls a score of 152 and 9th place.

Well done to all runners!
