Shrewsbury School equestrian team represent Shropshire in National Championships

Thursday 2 May 2019

Tom Allen, Flo Bury, Albert Horne and Maddy Baly travelled to Bury Farm Equestrian Village last Friday to represent Shropshire in the NSEA National Championships.

Maddy Baly reports:

We had to set off early in the morning and it was a long day, but it was a great experience. We had a really good start, finishing the outdoor round of the 90-95cm class in a position to win, with Tom and Maddy going clear and Flo only picking up 4 faults. In the indoor round Maddy went clear again but we unfortunately gained a few more faults, placing us 12th out of 26 teams overall which we were happy with.

Tom and Indo Million

The 1m-1.05m class consisted of a tricky course with some huge jumps up to 1.10m. Tom had two great rounds and only finished with 4 faults overall, and everyone else did very well to knock only a few poles each in both rounds, given that the jumps were so big and horses were getting tired later in the day.

We finished 9th out of 16 teams, which was a success.

Flo and Longwater Chancer

Albert and Windy Lad

Albert competed individually in the 1.10m-1.15m class and did very well in such a high class.

It was a fantastic effort from everyone and the horses were brilliant on such a hot day. Thank you to Miss Williams and Mrs Horne (Mother of Albert), who was Team Manager for the event, for organising a really fun day.
