A team of 63 pupils, teachers, parents, support staff and Old Salopians came together as a team to run in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in support of the Andrew Grene Foundation, which supports a school in earthquake-hit Haiti. All their hard work was not in vain: they blew the lid off their £10,000 target - and the total raised now stands at £11,800. The total raised over all by the School team (which includes other charities) stands at £18,783.50.
Kate Hodge, running for the Salopian Club and pictured below on Wyle Cop, said: 'There was a real team spirit amongst the Shrewsbury School runners, and we were delighted that everyone made it past the finishing post. We were particularly proud of Mr Hudson (M 1967-72), (pictured right with his daughter, Katherine), who had spearheaded the fund-raising effort, trained ruthlessly, and crossed the line in a really respectable 2 hours and twenty minutes.'
A huge thank you to all the runners, friends, contributors and supporters along the way. A great success all round.
