Shrewsbury School

Visit of Colegio San Bartolomé, Rosario

Tuesday 26 June 2012

Last week a party of 43 pupils and staff from our Argentinian exchange school flew from the winter of Rosario to the summer of Shropshire – to find that they were glad to have packed warm clothes! However, a warm welcome more than made up for the weather – and they shared our determination to carry on regardless with BBQs and a packed programme of visits locally and slightly further afield to Bath, Chester and Manchester.

The students joined in with the Challenge of Management Conference, boogied on the Sabrina on the Severn, learnt about Darwin and the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and generally enjoyed reacquainting themselves with old friends as well as making new ones.

Those of you still bemoaning the England team’s inability to win on penalties will find some small consolation in the knowledge that a Shrewsbury XI regained the ‘Copa Intercontinental’ Trophy 4-3 on penalties, having drawn 3-3 in normal time in a very entertaining match.

We wish them well as they now enjoy a week in London before heading off home.
