Shrewsbury School

This week 100 years ago - Background to the WW1 project

Material for this project is drawn from a number of different sources:

A weekly service of remembrance is taking place every Wednesday at 5pm in St Chad’s to commemorate those from Shropshire who died this week 100 years ago. St Chad’s has sourced the most complete list possible, although necessarily their list does not include boarders at Shrewsbury School who lived outside Shropshire. All are welcome to any of the services. Thanks are due to the researchers at St Chad's for allowing us to use their material.

The annual act of remembrance by the Sir Philip Sidney War Memorial is taking place after the 10am Morning Prayer in School Chapel on Sunday 9th November 2015. This year, as is usual, one fifth of the names of those from both World Wars will be read out; hence in five years a pupil will hear all the names. Descendants and relatives of OS servicemen who gave their lives are very welcome to attend this ceremony.
