Full-time from September 2025

Shrewsbury seeks to appoint a full-time teacher of Physics to teach at all levels in the School in a successful, supportive and collaborative Faculty. The post would be ideal for someone new to the profession looking to gain initial experience, key skills and knowledge in one of the country’s leading boarding schools or for an experienced qualified teacher. The successful candidate should be willing to participate in the School’s thriving pastoral and co-curricular programmes.

The sciences at Shrewsbury have a reputation for excellence and are among the most popular subjects in the School. There are seven full-time Physics teachers who work alongside two full-time lab technicians in seven full-size laboratories.

All pupils take science to GCSE level and every year approximately 50 pupils choose to take Physics A Level. Public Examination results are excellent, and many pupils continue their scientific learning beyond school, enrolling at the world’s best universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, in degree courses such as Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Sciences, Medicine, Chemistry and Biological Sciences.

Shrewsbury has its own salary scale and may be able to provide accommodation.

Shrewsbury School is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Manager who is passionate about change.  The role will provide operational management and effective leadership of the HR function for Shrewsbury and its family of schools.  Responsible for overseeing and managing the HR workload, ensuring compliance, managing complex casework and people projects, the role will also work with the new Director of HR to create and deliver an effective People strategy and plan for the business.

The successful candidate should have a Level 7 qualification in Human Resources and have strong evidence of professional development.  Experience of leading a HR team within a large and complex organisation, business partnering, managing employee relations issues, coaching and developing others and leading change are all essential skillsets. Human Resources Project Manager

Fixed term, Full time, Competitive salary

Shrewsbury School is seeking to appoint an experienced Human Resources Project Manager on a two-year fixed term basis to support with a number of people change programmes.   The role will be responsible for planning, managing and delivering people initiatives and change projects across the Shrewsbury family of Schools in line with our strategic plan.   The role will also work closely with the new Director of HR to deliver an effective People strategy and plan for the business.

The successful candidate should have a Level 7 qualification in Human Resources and have experience of scoping, planning and delivering successful people projects to time and budget.  Experience of supporting organisations through change including consultation, change management, restructure and organisational design alongside excellent employment law knowledge and partnership working are all essential skillsets. Payroll & Pensions Manager

Payroll & Pensions Manager

Permanent, Full Time, Competitive Salary

Shrewsbury School is seeking to appoint an experienced and committed Payroll & Pensions Manager to manage multiple payrolls, deliver operational pensions administration and track and monitor the staffing establishments for the Shrewsbury family of Schools.

The successful candidate should have a recognised CIPP qualification with substantial experience of managing large and multiple payrolls. Knowledge of defined contribution pension schemes, and statutory returns is essential. The post will work closely with both the Finance and HR teams and will line manager our Payroll Officer. Food Service Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to join our vibrant catering team. You will play a vital role in providing breakfast, lunch, supper, and morning and afternoon snacks for our students and staff and ensuring that our dining services continue to be a pillar of our school community. What you’ll do: 

  • Assist in the preparation and service of meals and refreshments in accordance with the menu. 
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all catering areas. 
  • Support the kitchen team in various tasks, including food preparation, cooking, and plating. 
  • Help with the setup and clearing of dining areas. 
  • Engage positively with students and staff, promoting a welcoming dining atmosphere. 
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
