Directions & Map
Shrewsbury School lies on the outskirts of the town of Shrewsbury, approximately 50 miles west of Birmingham, and 75 miles south of Manchester.
On most occasions when pupils travel to or from school (e.g. the beginning and end of term, half-terms, and two weekends each term), coaches run to a number of destinations around the country, avoiding the need for parents to travel to school to deliver/collect them.

Information for Visitors to Shrewsbury School
We are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to our school campus and look forward to your visit.
The majority of visitors should report to reception, with the exception of those visiting Admissions, who are advised to park by the Admissions Office. There is on site parking available for all other visitors beside the Port Hill astro with disabled parking at reception.
Arriving at Shrewsbury School by car - the Final Approaches
It is better to avoid the fiendish one-way system in the centre of Shrewsbury. Instead, find your way to the roundabout at the junction of the A5 and A5112, to the south-west of Shrewsbury. Take the A5112 signposted to Shrewsbury. Continue past the retail park (Sainsbury's, McDonald's, etc. to your right) to the large Meole Brace roundabout (with traffic lights). Approach this in the left hand lane. Take the second exit (B4380, signposted Porthill and Copthorne), keeping in the left lane and forking left immediately after the roundabout. You go up an incline which is in fact a bridge over the railway. At the next roundabout continue on the B4380 (second exit). The road heads down the hill and sweeps round to the right; just as the road rises up again, take the right hand turn into Kennedy Road. The School is now on your left.
Visitors to the Bursar/Kingsland House and anyone making a delivery to the School should take the first entrance on the left; others should continue up the hill and turn left at the tennis courts onto Ashton Road. At the end of the road turn right (still on Ashton Road), and after 400 yards you will find the large blue school gates on your left.
At the School
The majority of visitors should report to reception, with the exception of those visiting Admissions, who are advised to park by the Admissions Office (see map below). There is on site parking available for all other visitors beside the Port Hill astro with disabled parking at reception.
Please note that although you can also access the School via the Port Hill Gate on Porthill Road, there is no vehicular access across the School Site between Ridgemount and the new academic block, Hodgson Hall.

BY TRAIN
Shrewsbury is served by Virgin trains from London Euston (by changing at Birmingham New Street or Wolverhampton). There are also regular services from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Oxford, Cardiff and Bristol.
Click here for the national rail enquiries website.
Shrewsbury station is just the far side of the centre of the town from the school, and is approximately 20 minutes' walk away - but the route is not easy to find for a novice, so a taxi is usually a better bet. There is usually a good number of taxis on the station taxi rank.
BY AIR
Pupils regularly travel from the international airports at Birmingham (1 hour by car or rail), Manchester (1 hour 15 minutes by car, with some direct trains), Liverpool and East Midlands, and a coach runs to London Heathrow at the start and end of term, and often at half-term.
