A Salopian has been signed by a record label and is set to release an EP in the new year.

Ivo W (Rb, LVI) and his musical partner Daisy - together known as Idlework – signed to Finsbury Park-based music label Our House and released their first single ‘sixes’ earlier this month.

As well as performing, Ivo also does all the composition and production on the duo's music.

Ivo said: “My duo ‘Idlework.’ began on holiday aged 7 with a family friend when we started writing jokey songs together on our iPod. Fast forward a few years and our fan base had grown massively thanks to a series of viral Instagram videos.

“To date, our debut single has amassed over 1.3 million Spotify streams. We had enjoyed watching our growth as a fully independent artist from home, but the next step was to bring our music to the live scene and meet our fans.

“We performed our first headline show in Birmingham's 'Hare and Hounds’, drafting in a bassist from a current indie rock band on the scene that we met through Instagram. Luckily, she loved our new demos enough to play them to her management team at Reading festival and they got in contact a few months later.

“We had been working on our next EP at the time they contacted us, and we were so excited to have the opportunity to release our first single (titled 'sixes') on the 17th of November under the London based label ‘Our House' from the ‘Only Helix’ branch.

“It felt incredibly surreal after producing from my bedroom on late nights after school to suddenly find myself in a beautiful studio in London filming live videos and finishing up the tracks. In the new year we can’t wait to meet more creatives through photoshoots, video shoots, and gigs and of course release our sophomore EP under the label.”

You can find Idlework on Youtube, Spotify and Apple Music.
