Congratulations to Shrewsbury School teacher Seb Cooley who has retained his Fives title and won the Kinnaird Cup for the thirteenth year in a row.

Mr Cooley and his Fives partner Tom Dunbar won the Kinnaird Cup, which took place at Berkhamsted Prep School last month, with a 3-1 win over opponents Riki Houlden and Hugo Young.

When asked how it feels to retain the cup for the thirteenth year in a row, Mr Cooley said: “It makes me feel old! Our latest Salopian national champions - Miguel A-M (SH, III) and Sam S (PH, III) (U14 beginners’ champions 2023) - were two years old when I first won the title.

“This one, though, is dedicated to two who will never grow old: who in very diverse ways had eternal and undying energy. This year was for Jago Ainslie, whose love of fives burns on in the players who knew him, and for Huw Peach, whose love of life burns on in all who knew him.”
