Rowing crews brave freezing temperatures for Head of the Dee
Nine Shrewsbury crews travelled to Chester on Saturday morning to race at the Head of the Dee.
Coaches and athletes were wrapped up warmly to combat the below freezing temperatures. The event took place over 4.2km over the River Dee with the five Chester junior clubs also putting crews out.
After a challenging second half of the term which has seen a number of events cancelled and limited water time due to flooding it was great to get the crews out racing. The Shrewsbury crews all raced in mixed eights and octuples to include full squads and develop some health internal competition. The crews handled themselves extremely well given the limited water time and enjoyed the experience despite the freezing temperatures.
Thank you to Kings Chester for hosting the event.
