Salopian Pianists selected as top 10 finalists in National Competition

Two Shrewsbury School musicians have made it through to the finals of a national piano competition.  

Both Chit S (R, IV) and Joanna C (QEH, V) have been successful in the Broughton Junior Piano Competition. They have been selected as two of ten finalists from an initial 100 pianists to perform in London at the Broughton Piano studios on Sunday 17th November.  

Joanna will perform works by Liszt and Scriabin and Chit, Chopin’s Ballade in G minor. 

Director of Music Maria McKenzie said: “I am delighted that two of our pianists have been selected as finalists and have the opportunity to perform in London. It is encouraging that their continued dedication and motivation towards their playing has been recognised nationally.  

“I very much look forward to supporting them as they prepare for their performances.”
