Old Salopian Jack Home (O, 2019-24) has become the third Salopian in the space of twelve months to represent his country on the international cricketing stage.

He has built on his stellar finish to the English summer, where he starred for Worcestershire in the One Day Cup and County Championship, as well as being recorded bowling in excess of 90mph.

After OS Theo Wylie (O, 2019-24) represented England U19 and current pupil Freddie O (Ch, LVI) represented Ireland U19 last summer, Jack flew to South Africa early in the New Year to prepare for the England U19 side's tour to Cape Town. He featured in a warm-up game against a Western Province XI last week, before earning his first full international cap against South Africa U19s on Friday.

It didn't take him long to make an impression, as his very first ball produced a wicket, dismissing Raeeq Daniels with a sharp delivery that bounced steeply. His first over was a wicket maiden, and in the very next over a stunning pick up and throw saw him run out last man Chad Mason with a direct hit. England ran out comfortable winners, chasing down the target with 5 wickets in hand.

He also featured in the second ODI which South Africa win to level the series, and is in contention for the final ODI, as well as two Youth Test Matches.

Everyone at Shrewsbury is incredibly proud of his achievements.

The 1st XI boys and girls are currently busy preparing seven days a week for their own trip to Cape Town, where they will compete against some of the finest school cricket sides in the world. The tour will also include excursions to Table Mountain and Camps Bay, as well as evening visits to the bustling Waterfront, Cape Town's harbour and leisure hub.
