Meet the Housemaster...
Old Salopian Richard Case took over as Housemaster of Radbrook in September 2014.
He first moved to Shrewsbury at the age of two where he attended Kingsland Grange School before joining Shrewsbury as a Dayboy. He gained his first experience of teaching during a ten-month gap year in South Africa and went on to study Zoology at the University of Leeds before completing a doctorate in molecular ecology at the University of Hull. He spent a few years in the world of business acting as Quality Assurance Manager and auditing suppliers in Europe, South America and China.
Richard was appointed as a biology teacher at Shrewsbury School in January 2009. He has organised and led biology expeditions to Sulawesi, Madagascar and Guyana and has enjoyed contributing to the wider life of the School as a CCF officer, a J14 rowing coach as well as helping out with Duke of Edinburgh expedition training. He has also been responsible for mentoring students working on their Extended Project Qualifications in the Biology Department.
Richard is married to Chiara, an environmental scientist and consultant for the Renewable Energy Association. They have a daughter, Sofia, born in August 2016.
Richard’s other passions include travel, the outdoors, singing, folk music, dinghy sailing, kite-flying and photography.
The Day Houses
The two boys' day houses - Radbrook and Port Hill - are run separately, each with their own identity, housemaster, and interior colour scheme! However, they are inter-connecting and all dayboys mix very freely between both houses. In most cases, entries are accepted for a place as a dayboy, and the allocations of new boys to one of the two houses are made during the summer term prior to starting.
