Shrewsbury School Community Choir

The Shrewsbury School Community Choir, now about 120 strong, is a non-auditioning choir that was formed in 1982 by the former Head of Music, Andrew Auster, to introduce some outside interest in the Shrewsbury School Music Department, and to get external interaction with the students, who not only play in the orchestra, but also sing with the choir during some concerts.

Regular rehearsals take place on Monday evenings in either the Maidment Building or the Alington Hall, although there are usually some additional rehearsals in the weeks leading up to a major concert.  There are two school-based concerts each year - at the end of the Michaelmas and Lent terms - as well as an annual performance on 23rd December of Handel's Messiah at Shrewsbury Abbey.
