Teaching Fellows - Humanities or Sciences

Are you looking for a role that will challenge you, support your development and immerse you in the thriving life of one of the UK’s leading boarding schools?

Shrewsbury School is seeking graduate Teaching Fellows to join its friendly and purposeful community. These roles offer excellent opportunities for final-year undergraduates or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in classroom teaching, pastoral care and the wider co-curricular life of the School.

Successful candidates will contribute to either the School’s Humanities programme, specialising in History, Geography or Classics. Or the School’s Science programme, specialising in Chemistry, Biology or Physics

This post would be ideal for someone wishing to gain initial experience in the teaching profession and to gain key skills and knowledge in one of the country’s leading boarding schools.

The post is for a fixed term of one year, with the option of extension by mutual consent. The successful candidate will be accommodated by the School and will also be able to enjoy a programme of continuous professional development. Many of our Fellows go on to complete their formal teacher training qualifications either by gaining a full-time post in the School, or by using the experience to secure a place on a recognised course elsewhere.

Closing date: Friday, 10th April at 10am

A full induction programme is provided for all new members of staff, in addition to a programme of continuous professional development.

Learning Support Assistant

Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a qualified and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to primarily provide one-to-one support for one pupil with ADHD, with the possibility of working with other pupils/classes. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the Learning Support team to help the pupil/s thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a boarding school environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Shrewsbury School as a Learning Support Assistant, working closely with a specific student.

In this new role, you will provide support both in the classroom and during one-to-one sessions in the Learning Support Department. You will play a key role in helping the pupil/s strengthen their academic skills and develop greater independence in their learning. You will be working under the direction of the Head of Learning Support.

You will join a lively and enthusiastic team of support staff, who believe passionately in supporting our pupils to enable them to fully access the high quality of education on offer. We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences: we firmly believe that diversity enriches our school.

Lunch will be provided on working days. Exact term and Saturday working dates will be shared at interview, but potential applicants are welcome to contact us beforehand to clarify. There is scope for some negation on exact working hours (including not working Saturdays), but a degree of flexibility will be important for the proper performance of the role.

A full induction programme is provided for all new members of staff, in addition to a programme of continuous professional development. The salary for the post is competitive.
