Our Place
Shrewsbury is a unique place of serious fun where individuals have the perfect space to flourish.
The most beautiful playing fields in the world
- Sir Neville Cardus
A home to pupils from 1882, our site perfectly blends historic buildings with brand new facilities.
Our community lives and learns in an environment that combines world-class facilities delivering whole person education, with a striking spacious green campus supporting an active sports calendar as well as having space for mindfulness or relaxation.
The 110-acre site feels distinctively different from others with all school buildings surrounding our large green commons and sporting facilities, whilst also bordering the River Severn providing instant access for our boat crews.
'Wow!' is a comment we immediately hear from visitors new to Shrewsbury when they first see our strikingly beautiful grounds which are nurtured on a daily basis.
Our pupil Houses are their own unique communities within our wider school community; distinctively different to each other whilst similarly focused on providing dedicated pupil facilities and spaces. These are pupils' homes whilst at school whether they are boarders or day pupils, and Salopians are connected to their Houses for life.
Shrewsbury's ideal location is close enough to London, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham to access these cities but distant enough to provide our distinctive Shrewsbury education in a safe, supportive yet bustling environment.
We are globally connected through international airports, whilst being easily accessible via rail and road links from anywhere in the UK. Our coach provision for pupils brings all homes closer to Shrewsbury across the UK.
We are ideally situated to access the wider natural classrooms in Shropshire, North Wales, the Peak District and the Lakes.
A visit to Shrewsbury provides an opportunity to experience the beauty of the campus, the warmth of the School community and the unique Salopian spirit.
We look forward to welcoming you.
