Next Saturday, the Shrewsbury School Big Band will be performing at the Wightman Theatre in Shrewsbury (next door to the Shrewsbury Museum) as part of the established lunchtime jazz series, 'Saturday Jazz at the Wightman'. St Cecilia Concerts, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November
The annual St Cecilia Concerts are a major highlight in the School's musical calendar, performed by the combined forces of the Shrewsbury School Community Choir, Chapel Choir, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. This year they include the wonderful pianistic talents of one of the School's most talented Music Scholars, Kanei Nishii, who will be performing the first movement of Rachmaninov's glorious 2nd Piano Concerto. Also in the programme is Haydn's Mass in Time of War, movements from Beethoven's 1st Symphony as well as works for wind orchestra.
Performances are in the Alington Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. Tickets are free but need to be booked in advance at www.ticketsource.co.uk/shrewsburyschool
