Senior School Play 'A Streetcar Named Desire', Thursday 8th - Saturday 10th November 

The eagerly anticipated Senior School Play will be performed in the Ashton Theatre at 7.30pm on Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th November. Tickets are free but are likely to be in high demand, so please book them in advance via

'A Streetcar Named Desire' - a tale of a catastrophic confrontation between fantasy and reality - is arguably Tennessee Williams' finest play. An atmospheric preview video is included under 'Latest News' below, and more details about the performances can be found under 'Forthcoming Events'. 

Saturday Jazz at the Wightman, Saturday 10th November at 12 noon

Next Saturday, the Shrewsbury School Big Band will be performing at the Wightman Theatre in Shrewsbury (next door to the Shrewsbury Museum) as part of the established lunchtime jazz series, 'Saturday Jazz at the Wightman'. The concert is free with a retiring collection and lasts about an hour.  All welcome - and please spread the word.

St Cecilia Concerts, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November

The annual St Cecilia Concerts are a major highlight in the School's musical calendar, performed by the combined forces of the Shrewsbury School Community Choir, Chapel Choir, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. This year they include the wonderful pianistic talents of one of the School's most talented Music Scholars, Kanei Nishii, who will be performing the first movement of Rachmaninov's glorious 2nd Piano Concerto. Also in the programme is Haydn's Mass in Time of War, movements from Beethoven's 1st Symphony as well as works for wind orchestra.

Performances are in the Alington Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. Tickets are free but need to be booked in advance at

Carol Services Reminder

We will be holding three Carol Services this term; the first at 7.30pm on Friday 7th December, the second at 5.30pm on Sunday 9th December and the final one at 5.30pm on Thursday 13th December. Space in the Chapel is at an absolute premium for these services. We regret that therefore tickets will be allocated only to pupils and their parents on a first come, first served basis and we are restricting the number of tickets to a maximum of four.
