Notices to Parents and Guardians

CRY Testing - important notice for parents who have opted in for their son/daughter to be screened at this month's CRY event

Last term, parents of children aged 14 years and above received a letter from the Senior School Nurse about an optional cardiac screening programme we will be holding at the School Medical Centre on 30th and 31st January.

If you have not already done so, please can parents who have opted in to the event register with CRY to ensure their child is screened on the day. This process needs to be done via the CRY website: http://www.testmyheart.org.uk/private/ and includes completion of a medical questionnaire and signing CRY’s Consent Form to Treatment. (Instructions were included in the second letter parents will have received from the School Nurse: CRY Screening Confirmation Letter)

On completion of the registration process, CRY will acknowledge your registration and at the top of their confirmation email, they will ask you to print and sign their consent form. (Please note that the link for this is ‘CONSENT FORM’ in blue writing at the top of the email, and you will need to click on it to take you to their formal consent letter.) It is important that the CRY consent form is returned to school by 23rd January, as CRY will not be able to do the screening without it.

Presentation for parents: 'MeeTwo: Teenage Mental Help - a simple safe social media solution'
Saturday 26th January at 11.30am in the Ashton Theatre

Just before the start of Coach Weekend, Kerstyn Comley will give a presentation for parents on the topic “MeeTwo: Teenage Mental Help - A simple safe social media solution”. She will present ideas from the MeeTwo Teenage Mental Help Handbook and App, which combine the voices of young people and the opinions of experts with a directory of lots of different ways that young people can help themselves.

We do hope that you will be able to attend the presentation and enjoy some refreshments before collecting your child for the Extended Coach Weekend. For catering purposes, we would be grateful if you could let us know if you plan to come by emailing Henry Farmer (Head of Pupil Welfare (PSD)) at hpf@shrewsbury.org.uk by Wednesday 23rd January.

For parents who are unable to attend, we will aim to film the talk and make it available, along with accompanying notes, on the Parent Portal.
