Shrewsbury School Gala Concert in the Cadogan Hall, London - this Sunday, 10th March at 6.00pm

A final reminder that one of the major highlights in the Shrewsbury School musical calendar takes place in London this Sunday and all parents, guardians, current and former pupils, staff and friends are warmly invited to come and enjoy it. Full details are under 'Forthcoming Events' below.


Presentations to Parents on supporting your child's academic performance and e-safety, Friday 15th March

Next Friday at 11.30am, Steve Oakes will be giving a presentation in the Alington Hall to parents on “Supporting your child’s commitment, motivation and productivity to improve academic performance.”

Steve Oakes is a researcher, author, Associate Lecturer in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University and Associate Director of Education at AQR International, where he leads the work on mental toughness in education. He is the author of The A Level Mindset (2016), The A Level Mindset Student Handbook (2016) and The GCSE Mindset (2017) and has co-authored a chapter on 'mental toughness' with Professor Peter Clough in Non-Cognitive Skills and Factors in Educational Attainment (Sense Publishers, 2016). He has also presented at a wide range of conferences, including the British Psychological Association. In the session he will share with you the model he has used to support thousands of students and provide some practical tools that you can use directly with your sons and daughters.

This talk is open to all parents and refreshments will be available in the Crush Hall beforehand. You will receive a useful revision booklet and a plan for the Easter holiday!

At 1.00pm on Friday, we look forward to welcoming back Karl Hopwood to give a presentation to parents on e-Safety. Karl is an online safety expert with over 15 years of experience in working with schools, teachers, pupils, parents and other professionals to address the challenges posed by modern technology. His talk will take place in the Ashton Theatre.


Schools’ Head – an invitation to all RSSBC parents and supporters from Sabrina Club

Members of Sabrina, the Old Salopian Rowing Club, invite all school parents and supporters of the Royal Shrewsbury School Boat Club to join them in watching the Schools’ Head and cheering on the School crews next Friday, 15th March at the Blue Anchor, 13 Lower Mall, Hammersmith. Coffee will be available from 11.30am and lunch from 12 noon onwards, when racing starts.
