Notices to Parents and Guardians

‘Team Shrewsbury School’ are running the Shrewsbury Half Marathon for Haiti this Sunday, 17th June

This Sunday morning, 61 members of the School community - pupils, staff, parents and Old Salopians - will be taking part in the annual Shrewsbury Half Marathon. The race route passes Shrewsbury School at around the 7-mile point. Just after a tough climb up to Kennedy Road, the runners will come along Ashton Road from the Gorswen tennis courts and then go past the Moss Gates. A 'Shrewsbury School Supporters' Station' is being set up by the tennis courts and if parents and friends would like to cheer Team Shrewsbury School on from this vantage point, do please come along. The lead runners should be coming through from just after 9.30am.

The team have set a target of raising £10,000 for the Andrew Grene Foundation, which supports a school that is carrying out incredible work with children in Haiti following the devastating earthquake in 2010 and is also transforming the lives of over 1,500 Haitian women through a microfinance project. It was co-founded by a former Churchill’s and Ridgemount parent, Tim Perutz (see Richard Hudson's article, published on the website last month).
