J15 rowers gain good experience in first-ever external fixture

Rowing Sport

On Saturday October 5th the J15 rowers travelled to Chester for a friendly fixture with King’s School Chester.

The five crews took part in a 1500m time trial and three 750m side-by-side races. It was the first external rowing fixture for the squad and they coped extremely well with the challenges of managing themselves on a different stretch of water.

There was a great team ethic with all the crews supporting each other out on the water and helping to get boats and launches off the water at the end of the racing. King’s provided stiff opposition, and the crews gained some valuable race experience.

We hope to host them for a return fixture after half-term if the river conditions allow.
