Mary Sidney Hall was newly built for our first intake of girls into the Sixth Form in September 2008.  A second girls' house, Emma Darwin Hall, was also purpose-built and opened its doors to Sixth Form girls in September 2011. In September 2014, when we moved to full co-education and welcomed our first cohort of Third and Fourth Form girls, our third girls' house, The Grove, was opened.

Meet the Housemistress...

Naomi Pritchard took over from Anna Peak as Housemistress of Mary Sidney Hall at the start of the Michaelmas Term 2016.

As the daughter of a member of the Royal Air Force, Naomi spent most of her early childhood moving around the UK until she went to boarding school at the age of nine.  She embraced boarding life fully, enjoying all sports, CCF and outdoor pursuits, leading to several areas of responsibility in the Sixth Form.

Whilst completing two International Economics degrees at the University of the West of England, she was also an Honorary Midshipman at the Bristol University Royal Naval Unit and spent many weekends and deployments at sea on board HMS Dasher.

After university, Naomi had a career in Financial Services working for both multinationals and small companies in investments and pensions.  Still a keen sports fan, she played league hockey and maintained running as a hobby.

Having enjoyed working as a voluntary teacher and netball coach in Fiji during her Gap year, she later decided to return to teaching and completed a PGCE.  Following several years as an Economics and Business Studies teacher, sports coach and Sixth Form tutor at Kingswood and King Edward’s, Bath, she and her family returned to Shropshire in 2012.

Naomi has spent the last three years working in both pastoral and academic management roles at Adcote School and was Acting Headteacher in her final term.

In addition to her Housemistress role at Shrewsbury, she will also be teaching Economics and Business Studies, coaching netball and running Young Enterprise.

She is married to Adam and they have three children, Harry, Faye and Bea.  Their family also includes their placid labradoodle Scooby and their free-range rabbits Coco and Spot.
