We had a most enjoyable day which all of us want to repeat next year ........

On Sunday 30th May, the Hamiltons, the Morrells and the Vanhoonackers set off for the first SDC Yorkshire Tour with an MG B Roadster, a Mercedes SL320 and an Audi e-tron. Starting at the Old Tile Factory on the South Bank of the Humber, we started with a small feast of bacon sandwiches and muffins kindly prepared by Annalie. Everybody was handed a road map (see attached) and we left separately so each car would not just follow the first one but work out the instructions on their own. We all took a wrong turn at some point or another (even the organisers…) but got quickly back on track and arrived at the planned stops within minutes of each other. We crossed the glorious Humber Bridge, drove via Beverley where the free roaming cows in the Westwood brought several of us to a standstill, along the Yorkshire Wolds all the way to beautiful Sledmere where we stopped for an aperitif at the Triton Inn. We then continued our tour via Fridaythorpe and Givendale (with spectacular views) to finish at Darwin Escapes near Pocklington, for a mid-afternoon lunch in a basking sun on the terrace overlooking the East-Yorkshire countryside. All cars ran well and apart from the many burnt faces, necks and arms, we had a most enjoyable day which all of us want to repeat next year.

As ever.

Michel, Annalie and Sebastian (Ingrams)
