Leo Winkley, Headmaster, Shrewsbury School comments:
We are all delighted at the tremendous news that Mr Peter Middleton has been appointed Headmaster of Oswestry School from January 2022.
Since joining Shrewsbury in 2008, Peter has been Housemaster of Rigg’s Hall and Master in Charge of The Hunt, before becoming Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) in September 2016. Peter has led with great loyalty, energy and creativity. It is an excellent thing for Shrewsbury to be producing leaders who do a brilliant job and move on to promoted roles.
Peter will make an outstanding Head and I thank him for his wonderful service to Shrewsbury School.
Peter Middleton, Deputy Head Co-Curricular added:
For the past 13 years, Shrewsbury School has been far more than just a place of work for me; it has been a home and a family.
I count it a great privilege to have worked alongside such brilliant and committed colleagues, to have taught, coached and tutored such wonderful pupils and likewise to have had the chance to get to know so many parents, Old Salopians, and Governors. I shall greatly miss being part of such a special community.
I will, of course, not be far away, and I’m delighted that we shall remain close neighbours when I join Oswestry School in January, a move that we are very excited about. For now, I am very much looking forward to the term ahead and having the opportunity to say farewell properly before we go.
