Shrewsbury School teacher graduates with Masters from University of Oxford
We are delighted to announce that Modern Foreign Language teacher Alexandra Schmaller-Russell graduated from The University of Oxford with a MSc in Learning and Teaching.
Alexandra completed the Masters over the last two years alongside her job as a Teacher of German. Incredibly, having a 6 month-old-baby as she started the course, Alexandra also gave birth to her second child during that time, submitting her dissertation over 8 months pregnant, mid–pandemic!
As a native Berliner and with a huge interest in international education and child psychology, Alexandra wrote her thesis on “Acculturation and cultural learning - Understanding identity of Hong Kong and Chinese students at a traditional British Boarding School.” This research involved recognising the importance of both individual and group identity of international students at Shrewsbury. She is extremely grateful to Housemasters and students taking part in her research.
Alexandra is incredibly proud of her achievement and would like to recognise the strong support network that is necessary to make success possible.
Congratulations, Alexandra on an outstanding achievement.
