Academic News Physics

Regular readers of the Shrewsbury School website will remember the excellent crop of results from the Fifth Form and Lower Sixth online challenge last month.

This month sees yet more success as our Lower Sixth Physicists embarked upon the written version of the challenge. Notoriously difficult, with a very tight time limit, this National competition tasks students with answering a range of Physics problems, with marks awarded for both the solutions and their ability to communicate their understanding of the problem.

Salopian life is exceptionally busy, therefore it is a credit to the number of students that entered, showing their competitive spirit and hunger for challenge despite the numerous plates that many of them spin.

This talented crop of pupils rose to the challenge marvellously, with our best set of results in recent years. Four Gold Awards, awarded to the top 9% nationally, were won by Mico X (EDH, V), Godwin Y (SH, LVI), Anuvrat S (Rt, LVI) (pictured) and Emily C (G, LVI). These accompanied by seven Silver Awards and six Bronze.

Special mention goes to Mico, who entered a year early in 5th Form and came out with the top prize, her continued passion for the subject is inspiring!

Keep an eye out for the next instalment of competitive Physics, as our whole Fourth Form cohort attempt the Junior Challenge after the Easter Break.
