Henley Royal Regatta back to normal (almost!)
Blazers and caps remained very much the order of the day at Henley Royal Regatta last week where, despite a reduction in overseas crews, things appeared to be almost back to normal. Sadly no Sabrina crews featured this year, but Salopian supporters were able to enjoy watching both the School boys’ and girls’ 1st VIIIs reaching the quarter-finals on Friday. The boys briefly took the lead against Westminster but were eventually narrowly overhauled, while the girls rowed neck and neck for the whole 2000 metres of the course against the National Schools champions, Lady Eleanor Holles, in an heroic race, losing by less than a canvass. Because of the uncertain outlook, no Sabrina lunch was organised this year, but Salopian supporters assembled at 4.00pm each day at the Fawley bar to greet old friends.
