Impressive results for Salopians in British Maths Olympiad

Selected on their superior Senior Maths Challenge Results, four students Michael M (S, UVI), Tom P (Ch, UVI), Darren C (Ch, UVI) and Aidan K (S, LVI) sat the challenging British Maths Olympiad Round One.
The paper comprises six questions that, although based on mathematical concepts with which they should be familiar, require a more nuanced approach. Scoring 10/10 on a question is an achievement in itself.
1909 students sat the paper across the country and a score of 11/60 or more would have put them in the top 41% of the country. A score of 25 or more was worthy of Distinction for being in the top 25% overall.
Aidan and Michael were awarded Merits, the latter missed a distinction by one mark. Tom was only four marks from a medal (top 100 scores) and Darren not that far behind, both received a coveted certificate of Distinction.
Congratulations to all involved.
