Old Salopians

The Salopian Club Epiphany Service at St Mary-le-Bow on Wednesday 18th January had everything

With an Old Salopian choir that resounded around the City under the baton of Patrick Craig (Ch 82-87), remarkable solo performances by Andrew Tipple (M 00-05), Dan Noman (I 84-88) and Sophia Price (EDH 16-18), organ playing of the highest quality from Anthony Merryweather (I 86-91), a variety of readings from Salopian personalities, a world premiere of an exquisite carol written by Alex Clarke (Rt 82-87) and a truly memorable address from Canon Dr Mark Oakley (Rb 82-87) who came down from Cambridge to conduct the service, it has been hailed as the best Salopian Club Epiphany Service yet.

Many of the 100 or so Salopians in the church then repaired for yet more spiritual refreshment at the nearby Williamson’s Tavern, some evidently in for the long haul! Sincere thanks are due to Richard Eteson (G 89-93), Patrick Craig (Ch 82-87) and Peter Fanning (Staff 81-12) for masterminding such an inspiring service.
