Nick Owen (R 1961-66) received the MBE for his services to charity and broadcasting.

Nick who has worked in TV for more than 50 years was given the award by the Princess Royal last month.

The BBC presenter has been praised for speaking publicly about his prostate cancer diagnosis which inspired many other men to get tested. He has also worked with charities such as the Edward’s Trust, Baby Lifeline & Prostate Cancer UK.

Nick is best know for presenting Good Morning with Anne and Nick, GMTV, ITV Sports programmes and BBC Midlands Today which he has fronted since 1997. It was great to see Nick back at Shrewsbury in January for Dr Gee's 90th birthday. Congratulations from all of us in the Salopian Club.
