Old Salopians Music

There’s a wealth of talent amongst the Old Salopians both professional and amateur.

The annual Open Mic Night transferred this year to the stylish venue of The Pheasantry at Pizza Express on London’s King’s Road. It’s one of the capital’s top musical cabaret and dining venues.

Jessie Inglis Jones (EDH 2016-18) and Dom Sullivan (I 2017-19) put together an Old Salopian Band made up of professional session musicians Dalton Foster (Ch 2017-19) and Joe Dodd (Rb 2013-18) who were joined by towering legend of Shrewsbury School music John Moore, the Director of Music between 1989 and 2020.

Singers took it in turn to perform a full repertoire of popular hits. Just a few highlights included Henry Southern’s (G 2003-08) duet on the piano with John Moore and a rousing chorus of Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’ to finish. Many former students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to reunite and play with the teacher who had inspired them to follow a career in music or the arts.

The audience of Old Salopians plus friends and family were royally entertained.
