Shrewsbury saxophone teacher honoured by Royal Academy of Music

A Shrewsbury saxophone teacher has been awarded the prestigious Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in recognition of his contributions to the music industry.
Rob Cope, a former student of the Academy, will receive the honour at a graduation ceremony at the end of April.
Each year, the Royal Academy of Music confers Associate Honours on distinguished alumni who have made a significant impact on the musical landscape. The 2024-2025 list includes soloists, orchestral and chamber musicians, jazz artists, composers, conductors, music educators, musical theatre performers and artistic leaders.
Mr Cope, who completed his master’s degree at the Academy, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“To be awarded an Associate of the Royal Academy where I studied for my master’s degree is a true honour," he said.
"To be recognised for my contributions to the music industry from such a prestigious conservatoire is something I had always hoped for but never expected to receive.
"I’ve been lucky to receive a huge amount of help and support from my teachers along the way, and I hope I can continue to support my own students here at school to excel to the same level in the future. For all of the students in the music department, this goes to show that good things come to those who practice!”
