Music pupils enjoy concert at Royal Northern College of Music
Last Saturday, seven of our top string players journeyed to Manchester to witness an extraordinary concert at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
Chris Hoyle, the Head of Strings at the Royal Northern, gave a Masterclass session here at Shrewsbury last term. He was suitably impressed with the standard of our musicians and issued an invitation to attend a concert in their 2025 String Festival.
The concert in Manchester was presented by the world-class Halle Orchestra, augmented by RNCM students, and professional soloists. The Shostakovich Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto formed the heart of the concert.
The level of musicianship on display was jaw-droppingly good, and our students returned to school both excited and inspired.
Peer I (O, LVI) said: “It was a wonderful concert and certainly one that I will never forget!”
